FOUNDER & DESIGNER BIO

Subash (Sebastian) Ghimire

Founder & Creative Director — Hempmandu®

Subash Ghimire, known creatively as Sebastian, is the founder and designer behind Hempmandu®, a sustainable lifestyle brand deeply rooted in Nepalese heritage, natural healing, and contemporary design.

Born into a culture where craftsmanship, resilience, and respect for nature are part of everyday life, Subash draws inspiration from Nepal’s Himalayan landscapes, traditional weaving practices, and the quiet philosophy of living simply and purposefully. His creative vision merges ancient techniques with modern silhouettes, creating pieces that are effortless, functional, and timeless.

Beyond design, Subash’s connection to hemp is personal and deeply meaningful. As someone living with PTSD, traumatic brain injury, anxiety, and depression, he understands firsthand the importance of natural support, comfort, and balance in daily life. His lived experience as a cannabis patient has shaped his belief in hemp not just as a material, but as a plant with cultural, therapeutic, and sustainable significance.

For Subash, hemp represents resilience — a plant that has supported communities for generations through fibre, medicine, and livelihood. This philosophy is embedded into every Hempmandu creation: garments and footwear designed to feel grounding, breathable, and supportive — physically and emotionally.

As a designer, Sebastian believes true luxury is not excess — it is quality, integrity, intention, and wellbeing. Every Hempmandu design reflects a commitment to ethical production, natural fibres, slow fashion principles, and respect for both people and planet. His signature aesthetic is relaxed yet refined, grounded yet elevated.

Under Sebastian’s creative direction, Hempmandu stands as a bridge between Nepalese tradition, conscious healing, and global contemporary style — designed not just to be worn, but to be lived in.
